The Coptic Museum Celebrates Christmas Season With Special Exhibition
The Coptic Museum’s temporary exhibition in Old Cairo will showcase rare pieces in celebration of Christmas and the New Year.
The Coptic Museum in Old Cairo will host a temporary exhibition in celebration of the Christmas season. The museum is home to the largest collection of Coptic Christian artefacts in the world, and from December 25th to February 25th, they will showcase some of their rarest pieces as part of their ‘Hadaya W Hekaya’ exhibition.
Arabic for ‘Presents and Stories’, the ‘Hadaya W Hekaya’ exhibition will commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ with a special focus on the presents that were given to him, as well as the traditions of gift-giving across Coptic history.
The museum will also host a ‘bakhoor’ making workshop by Dina Nabawy, the museum’s Head of Restoration. The workshop will use plants extracted from the museum’s historic garden to teach participants how to make the traditional incense.
