Tourist Destinations in Egypt Exempt From Energy Saving Measures
Tourist areas in Hurghada, Luxor and Sharm El-Sheikh will remain outside new energy-saving rules set to apply nationwide for one month.
Tourist destinations across Egypt will be exempt from new energy consumption measures set to take effect for one month starting March 28th.
The measures include regulations on shop closing hours during weekdays and on Thursdays and Fridays, introduced as part of efforts to rationalise energy use in response to ongoing global developments.
Exemptions apply to key tourism hubs including Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Luxor, Aswan and Sharm El-Sheikh, as well as tourist restaurants operating within these areas.
Under the clarification, services provided to visitors in these destinations will continue without changes during the implementation period, with tourism-related operations remaining outside the scope of the retail closing-hour regulations.
The measures will be applied across other areas as scheduled for the one-month period and are subject to review and adjustment.
