Transport App Launched to Support 12th World Urban Forum Attendees
A new transport app will simplify travel for attendees of the 12th World Urban Forum, offering schedules, interactive maps, and access to eco-friendly buses and discounted rides across Cairo.
The Ministry of Transport has launched a dedicated app designed to streamline transportation for participants attending the 12th World Urban Forum, hosted at the Egypt International Exhibitions Centre in New Cairo. This event, expected to welcome over 20,000 attendees from more than 170 countries, focuses on innovative approaches to urban development and sustainable cities.
The app provides users with real-time information on bus schedules and nearby stops, including interactive maps that detail various public transport options, such as Cairo’s metro system, electric train, and public buses. Key to the app’s design is its user-friendly layout, enabling participants to conveniently plan their routes and manage their daily travel throughout the forum.
In addition to the app, the Ministry of Transport has organised free transportation services, offering 100 eco-friendly buses that will run from major hubs like Mohandeseen, Sheraton, Abbasiya and Dream Park. These buses are scheduled to operate daily from 6:15 am to 10:00 pm, with nearly a third equipped with accessibility features for people with special needs. The app also offers a promo code for discounted Uber rides, making it easier for attendees to commute.
Sessions at the World Urban Forum will cover a wide range of urban planning issues, from sustainable growth to inclusive communities. With over 500 sessions and workshops scheduled, the event is set to be a comprehensive platform for exchanging ideas on urban innovation.
