UAE Announces 2025 Public Holidays With Long Weekends Awaited
Plan ahead for a year of festivities, extended weekends and public holidays.
The UAE has announced its public holiday calendar for 2025, presenting a year of festivities and opportunities for long weekends. The schedule combines fixed dates and tentative observances tied to the Islamic lunar calendar, offering citizens and residents ample time to plan ahead.
The year begins with a public holiday on Wednesday, January 1st, marking New Year’s Day. This midweek break sets the tone for a year punctuated by celebrations and extended weekends.
Eid Al Fitr, one of the most significant Islamic holidays, is tentatively scheduled to begin at the end of Ramadan, spanning the 29th day of Ramadan to the 3rd day of Shawwal. If Ramadan lasts 29 days, Eid Al Fitr will start on Sunday, March 30th, offering a four-day break. However, if Ramadan extends to 30 days, the holiday will begin on Monday, March 31st, extending the break to five days, including the weekend.
Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha are expected to provide another extended holiday period, beginning with Arafat Day on Friday, May 30th, and continuing with Eid Al Adha from May 31st to June 2nd. This sequence is set to create a long weekend lasting from Friday through Monday.
Islamic New Year is tentatively set for Friday, June 27th, aligning with the weekend and offering a further opportunity for an extended break. Another religious observance, the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday (PBUH), falls on Monday, September 1st, providing a one-day holiday early in the week.
Toward the end of the year, UAE Commemoration Day on Tuesday, December 2nd, and Eid Al Etihad on Wednesday, December 3rd, will close out the calendar with two midweek holidays.
