The announcement, posted on X, included Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt.
The US Department of State has issued an advisory urging American citizens to depart the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, as regional tensions escalate following US-Israeli strikes on Iran.
The announcement was made on the official X account of the State Department's Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs Mora Namdar.
“Depart now via commercial means due to serious safety risks,” the statement reads.
The advisory lists 14 nations across the region, several of which have experienced retaliatory attacks from Iran targeting US military bases after the initial strikes. The notice cites heightened security risks and the potential for further escalation.
The announcement comes as airports across the UAE, including Ras Al Khaimah Airport, Al Maktoum Airport and Dubai International Airport, announced they are resuming limited flights on Tuesday, March 3rd.
On Tuesday, March 3rd, the US embassy in Riyadh was targeted by two drones in the early morning, causing "limited fire and minor material damage to the building." No injuries have been reported.
