USD 35 Billion Terminal Approved For Al-Maktoum Airport In Dubai
The new terminal will make Al-Maktoum the largest airport in the world.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, has approved the construction of a new USD 35 billion (AED 128 billion) passenger terminal in Al-Maktoum International Airport. The new terminal promises to make his namesake airport the largest in the world. With a capacity of up to 260 million passengers, it will be five times the capacity of Dubai International Airport. There are plans to transfer all operations from the latter to the refurbished Al-Maktoum in the coming years.
In addition, 400 terminal gates and five brand new runways have been promised. The airport will continue previous flights with all airline carriers to and from Dubai, but will be the new flagship carrier of Dubai’s very own Emirates airline, as well as her low-cost sister airline Flydubai.
