Unemployment Rate Decreases to 6.4% During Fourth Quarter of 2024

The unemployment rate has slightly decreased in the last quarter of 2024, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization (CAPMAS) announced in its most recent results of the labour force survey.

The current number for unemployed persons is currently 2.1 million, representing a little over 6% of Egypt’s general population. That number has decreased by nearly 30,000 in 2024’s fourth quarter. Of the current 33 million unemployed persons, 33% of them are 20 to 24 years old. 29% are 25 to 29 years old, while 35.4% are 30 to 64 years old.

From October to December 2024, Egypt’s labour force population experienced a 2.8% increase from the previous quarter of the year, rising from 32.2 million to 33.1 million. Of those 33.1 million, men make up 26.5 million, while women make up 6.5 million.
