Egypt’s Unemployment Rate Drops to 6.1% in Q2 2025
CAPMAS also noted that most unemployed Egyptians hold qualifications, with nearly half of them university graduates.

Egypt’s unemployment rate fell to 6.1 percent in the second quarter of 2025, down slightly from 6.3 percent in the previous quarter, according to new figures from the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The number of unemployed people now stands at just over 2 million, about 57,000 fewer than at the start of the year. Compared with the same period in 2024, unemployment is also marginally lower.
Women in particular saw an improvement, with unemployment among females dropping to 15.8 percent, compared to 16.4 percent in the first quarter. The picture is more mixed for young people: unemployment among those aged 15–19 ticked up to 10.2 percent, while the 20–24 age bracket remained the largest share at nearly 29 percent. For Egyptians between 25–29, unemployment edged higher to 20.7 percent, while rates among older workers fell slightly.
CAPMAS also noted that most unemployed Egyptians hold qualifications, with more than three-quarters having intermediate degrees or higher, and nearly half of them university graduates.
