Astronomy Experts Predict Ramadan 2025 Will Begin on March 1st

Ramadan 2025 is projected to begin on Saturday, March 1st, as per the latest predictions from International Astronomical Centre, an Abu Dhabi-based astronomy centre.

The crescent moon, which determines the start of the holy month, is expected to be visible on Friday, February 28th. If confirmed, fasting will commence the following day. Otherwise, it will be postponed to March 2nd.

The ninth and holiest month in the Islamic calendar shifts earlier each year due to the lunar cycle, with fasting hours varying accordingly. This year, observers in the UAE will fast for about 14 hours and 13 minutes at the start, gradually extending to 14 hours and 55 minutes by the month’s end.

With the expected start date falling just weeks before the end of the spring school term, schedules and routines are set to shift accordingly.
