Zayed National Museum Launches Abu Dhabi’s First Deaf-Led Tours
The museum will debut Emirati sign language tours led by Deaf guides, alongside features such as tactile stations, sensory maps, and a calm room, aiming to become the world's most accessible museum.

The Zayed National Museum will introduce tours in Emirati Sign Language led by Deaf guides when it opens in December 2025, becoming the first museum in Abu Dhabi to offer this service.
The programme is designed to communicate the UAE’s culture, values, and history with accuracy while also inspiring others in the Deaf community to pursue similar roles. The guides’ fluency with international sign language will allow them to conduct tours for Deaf visitors from around the world.
Efforts for inclusivity extend to wheelchair users, visitors with hearing aids, people with visual impairments, and neurodivergent audiences. Features include induction loops, tactile stations, sensory maps, portable stools, and a calm room intended to allow visitors to reduce overstimulation.
