NFSA Confirms Food Poisoning Bacteria in B Laban Products & Others
Egypt’s food safety authority closes multiple chains after inspections reveal serious violations and food poisoning bacteria.

Egypt’s National Food Safety Authority confirmed that five major chains - B Laban, Karam El-Sham, Konafa & Basbousa, Wahmy, and Am Shaltat - have been shut down across Egypt following the discovery of multiple food safety violations.
Triggered by rising consumer complaints and multiple food poisoning cases, the nationwide inspection campaign involved visits to over 47 outlets and factories. Food samples were collected and analyzed, revealing the presence of disease-causing bacteria, internationally banned food dyes, and improper storage methods that led to spoiled and unsafe products.
Contaminated ingredients in ready-to-eat products were found, posing direct risks to consumers’ digestive health.
As a result, the government has ordered a temporary closure of all affected locations until safety standards are met. Unsellable goods have been confiscated and destroyed, while intensified inspections will continue without warning.
The National Food Safety Authority is calling on all food businesses to strictly adhere to health regulations - and urging the public to report any concerns through official channels.
