Egyptian Artist Menat Hisham Unveils Summer Madness Collection
Fresh and bursting with colour, the collection is a cherished reminder of the beauty found in fleeting moments.
Alexandria-born Egyptian visual artist Menat Hisham unveiled her latest collection, ‘Summer Madness’, as an ode to the spirit of the season, the nostalgia and the flavours that we associate with it. Bursting with colour and flamboyance, her compositions create inviting canvases that bring the summer indoors.
After years of practising interior design, Hisham’s passion for modern art came to the surface in 2020 with her first collection. Her debut work showcased her love for explorative techniques and palettes. Shortly after, she founded Menat Hisham Studio, began experimenting with fresh perspectives, and participated in exhibitions in Egypt and beyond.
“I discovered my passion for art over time and it became a huge part of my journey in life,” Hisham tells SceneHome. “I love explosive imagery, feminine motifs and elaborate patterns.” Hisham’s portfolio spans a slew of projects, from commissioned artworks for businesses, self-driven projects and intimate paintings for interiors.
In full bloom, Summer Madness draws inspiration from the vivid colours and dynamic energy of the season. “It captures the essence of sun-soaked days and lushness,” Hisham says of the collection. “It reflects the carefree spirit of summer, evoking cool breezes, golden sunsets, and the joy of spontaneity.”
‘Tropical’ captures the taste of summer through depictions of various fruits and hues. ‘Bubblegum’ buzzes with colour and cheer. “Summer Madness will add an uplifting feel to people’s homes, bringing the energy of the season indoors and infusing spaces with a sense of joy, freshness and vitality,” Hisham says.
Depicting a watermelon, the ultimate summer fruit, ‘Refresh’ exudes colour and, well, taste. ‘Dive In’ offers an immersive escape into a carefree moment. “The collection allowed me to translate my memories and experiences of summer into tangible expressions of nostalgia,” Hisham shares. “The vibrant colours and playful compositions evoke a sense of freedom that profoundly resonates with me.”
‘Sun-kissed’ whispers a tale of two souls entwined in the innocence of summer’s embrace. “Under the warm caress of the sun, their laughter echoes melodies of a carefree childhood,” Hisham explains. “Each grain of sand is a testament to their spirit, their footprints mark a fleeting moment of companionship and discovery.”
“Each piece reflects my personal journey and growth as an artist, capturing moments of spontaneity and beauty that I hold dear to my heart. Through this collection, I feel most connected to my artistic vision and the emotions I seek to evoke in others,” Hisham expresses.
Splashing a sunny cheer into interiors, ‘Lollipops’ is a burst of summer’s sweetest moments. “It holds a special place in my heart because it represents more than just visuals; it encapsulates a deeper emotional connection to the season.”
‘Sandy’ captures sun-kissed shores, where golden sands frame endless blue horizons. “It evokes the warmth of lazy days on the beach and the beauty of coastal landscapes, bringing a glimpse of seaside serenity into our spaces,” Hisham describes the piece.
The collection consists of mixed media paintings on big canvas with different dimensions. Before bringing her paintings to life, Hisham embarks on a journey through several phases of design. “I delve into the realm of conceptualisation, where ideas and inspiration intertwine to form a cohesive vision.” There, Hisham explores and experiments as she sketches, seeking a composition that perfectly captures the essence she’s trying to convey.
After testing different techniques, solid colours, textures, materials, Hisham then transfers the design onto canvas. “This allows me to refine my approach, ensuring that when the brush finally touches the canvas, every stroke resonates with intention and integrity.”
