Your Guide to New Cairo’s O1 Complex
For all-around family fun and exciting outing options, peruse this guide to the complex's top destinations.
Between a morning brunch date, an impulse purchase, and maybe a coffee or drink during a playdate, New Cairo’s O1 has become the go-to destination for Cairenes. It's also the perfect spot to satisfy your hunger - especially if you’re craving quirky Asian cuisine - or even to get a new piercing on a whim at Sisters & Co. In short, O1 has got everything the wandering Cairene needs to scratch any particular itch they may have.
That said, we, as usual, tend to get lost at the complex. For this reason, we’ve put together this quick guide to all the new entertainment, dining and shopping (with adequate caffeine) destinations at O1 to help you navigate its labyrinthine offerings.
WHERE TO FIND ENTERTAINMENT AT O1
Play
Now that Kids Area Play is open at O1, you can enjoy your dining/shopping experience fully without having to worry about what your little ones are up to. The best part? Your kids will have so much fun they won’t even notice you’re gone.
Brass Monkeys Studios
We’ve talked about fun for kids, now it’s time for fun for adults. Brass Monkey Studios offers you expertly-led dance, yoga, pole and fitness classes right in the heart of O1. Grab a coffee, and maybe a friend, and head there for head-to-toe fun.
WHERE TO SHOP AT O1
Sisters & Co.
Now that jewellery shop Sisters & Co. is open at O1, you can grab your bestie and go get matcha and a matching piercing at any point during the working week (as is your legal right). If you’re feeling any less reckless, just peruse the shop’s shining jewellery collection instead.
Deci Furniture Store
Deci’s unique furniture pieces become irresistible to shoppers’ eyes by providing sleek solutions to the modern home. Thanks to O1, we can experience their pieces in person rather than just drooling over them in our online window-shopping excursions.
Misk Homeware Accessories
At Misk, every single piece of homeware has its own story. They are each handcrafted from scratch, and every single etch makes them all the more special. At O1, you can investigate the uniquities of Misk’s pieces in person, familiarising yourself with pieces that add personality to the home.
WHERE TO EAT AT O1
Besh
Following its recent opening, Besh has been charming its newfound fanatics with delicious Levantine and Turkish cuisine. From fattoush to kibbeh, they’ve got it all.
Pao Pao
A new Asian hot spot, Pao Pao is dedicated to “edgy Asian cuisine”, where they serve everything from chicken shoyu ramen to matcha and black sesame ice cream.
Sole
Serving oriental Egyptian cuisine but upscale, Sole is where you go when you’re craving your mum’s homemade molokhia minus the “When are you getting married?” talk. It’s already up and running at O1, and offers delivery for people who crave ‘hamam mahshi’ from their couches.
Dark Solution
The Maadi and Zamalek coffee shop supplying Cairenes with their much-needed espresso has landed in Cairo’s east. You can now sip on actual good coffee as you window shop in O1’s halls.
