Synopsis:
Baker Selim along with his wife and three sons reach Cairo after fleeing Alexandria due to Bonaparte's campaign in 1798. The campaign reaches Cairo and the Mamluks are defeated. One son joins the militant resistance against the French while the other works with the French and learns their language.
