Dubai Creek Lights Project to Illuminate Historic Waterfront
More than 5,000 lighting units will be installed along eight kilometres of Dubai Creek.
Dubai Municipality has begun implementing the Dubai Creek Lights project, which will install more than 5,000 lighting units along an eight-kilometre stretch of Dubai Creek as part of a USD 21.8 million waterfront enhancement programme.
Launched under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the project spans six locations: Creek Quay, the Creek Promenade at the Gold Souq, the Creek entrance at Infinity Bridge, Al Shindagha Historic District, Bur Dubai Souq, and Al Seef Marina.
According to Dubai Municipality, the lighting installations will be visible from more than 1,500 feet above ground level. The project also includes upgrades to promenades, creek entrances, building façades and waterfront walkways.
The initiative is intended to strengthen the visual identity of each district while highlighting the Creek's historic neighbourhoods, traditional souqs and architectural landmarks. It also incorporates sustainable lighting solutions designed to minimise impacts on marine life while enhancing the nighttime experience across public spaces.
The Dubai Creek Lights project forms part of Dubai Municipality's wider programme to develop waterfronts and public spaces, with completion scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
