Egyptian Basketball Legend Ismail Ahmed Enters Guinness World Records
At 49, Egyptian basketball legend Ismail Ahmed became the oldest player to record a triple-double in history.
Egyptian basketball icon Ismail Ahmed has officially entered the Guinness World Records after becoming the oldest player in basketball history to record a triple-double in an official game.
His club, Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut, announced that the 49-year-old achieved the milestone at 49 years and 243 days old.
A triple-double is recorded when a player reaches double figures in three statistical categories, most commonly points, rebounds, and assists.
Ahmed's record-setting performance adds another chapter to a career that has spanned decades. Before becoming a legend with Al Riyadi, he represented Al Ittihad Alexandria, establishing himself as one of Egypt's greatest-ever basketball players.
The achievement comes shortly after a successful 2025-26 season in which Ahmed helped Al Riyadi secure the Lebanese Basketball League title, defeating rivals Sagesse SC 100-79 in the decisive Finals game.
