King Salman Medical City Reports Higher Capacity & Volumes in 2025

King Salman bin Abdulaziz Medical City expanded its services and capacity in 2025, reporting increased patient volumes and the introduction of new specialised centres and facilities.

Emergency departments handled 285,694 cases during the year, with a 97% response rate within four hours. Outpatient visits exceeded 931,745, compared to 547,372 in 2024, while radiology services reached 214,459 procedures, up from 125,687, supported by extended service hours and equipment maintenance programmes.

The number of specialised centres increased from eight to 12, covering fields including oncology, cardiology, diabetes, neurological sciences, ophthalmology, dermatology, and nutrition therapy.

Additional centres were introduced for developmental, behavioural, genetic, and metabolic disorders. New infrastructure projects included a dialysis unit with a capacity of 10 beds, an interventional radiology centre, and a specialised diabetic foot centre.

Emergency response capabilities were also expanded through the addition of two air ambulance helipads in cooperation with the Saudi Red Crescent Authority.

At the institutional level, the main hospital received “Age-Friendly Hospital” accreditation, while the Women’s and Children’s Hospital was recognised as a “Baby-Friendly Hospital” in line with World Health Organization and UNICEF standards. The medical city also received an Outstanding Performance Award in the “Saving Lives” category for acute stroke management and obtained ISO certification for food safety management systems.

Workforce development was expanded through the accreditation of 12 specialised training programmes across neurosurgery, emergency medicine, clinical pharmacy, and critical care nursing, aimed at strengthening clinical capacity.
