Mona Zaki Will Recieve GFF’s 2026 Career Achievement Award
The award is part of the festival’s annual tradition of recognising influential figures whose work has left a lasting mark on film and entertainment.
Egyptian actress Mona Zaki is set to receive the Career Achievement Award at the ninth edition of El Gouna Film Festival, taking place from October 15th to 23rd.
The award is part of the festival’s annual tradition of recognising influential figures whose work has left a lasting mark on film and entertainment. Previous Egyptian recipients include Adel Imam and Mahmoud Hemida, alongside international names such as Forest Whitaker. In 2025, the festival presented the award to actress Menna Shalaby.
Zaki has been a prominent figure in Egyptian cinema since the 1990s, moving from early romantic comedies and mainstream hits into a wide-ranging body of dramatic work across film and television.
Her credits include ‘Sahr El-Layali’, ‘Ehky Ya Shahrzad’, ‘Perfect Strangers’, ‘Newton’s Cradle’, ‘Taht El Wesaya’ and ‘Flight 404’. She was also the recipient of the Faten Hamama Excellence Award at the Cairo International Film Festival in 2020, adding another major career honour to a filmography spanning three decades.
