PureHealth Expands Child Mental Health Services With SAKINA Network
The programme is expected to support nearly 500 children each month.
Healthcare group PureHealth has launched SAKINA for Children, a specialised mental health network aimed at expanding psychiatric and developmental care for children and adolescents across Abu Dhabi.
The programme, which serves patients up to the age of 18, brings together outpatient consultations, early intervention services and inpatient care through a coordinated treatment model. According to PureHealth, the network is expected to support around 500 children each month.
Services include child and adolescent psychiatry, developmental paediatrics, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, behavioural interventions and psychological support for families.
Children requiring more intensive treatment will have access to dedicated inpatient units offering acute psychiatric stabilisation and specialised care for neurodevelopmental conditions. Treatment plans will involve multidisciplinary teams comprising psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists and family members.
Assessments will use internationally recognised tools, including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule for autism, the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children for cognitive testing and Conners Rating Scales for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Services will be available in Arabic, English, Hindi, Urdu and Malayalam.
SAKINA for Children forms part of the wider SAKINA mental health network, which includes 34 satellite clinics, two mental health hubs, two psychiatric inpatient facilities, two neurodiversity centres and nine integrated clinics located within tertiary hospitals across the PureHealth network.
The programme will also work with schools and community organisations to promote awareness and encourage earlier identification of mental health concerns among children and adolescents.
