Saudi Arabia Issues & Renews 274,000 Commercial Licences

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing issued and renewed more than 274,000 commercial licences during the first half of 2026, reflecting continued business activity and the expansion of the Kingdom's digital municipal services.

According to ministry spokesperson Mohammed Al Rassasmah, the total included more than 97,000 newly issued commercial licences and over 177,000 licence renewals between January and June.

Over the same period, the ministry processed more than 91,000 licence amendments, over 43,000 requests to add commercial activities, and more than 39,000 licence ownership transfers as part of the services it provides to the business sector.

Al Rassasmah said the ministry continues to modernise the municipal licensing system by simplifying procedures and expanding digital services to speed up transactions and improve the experience of investors and business owners.

He added that the Balady platform remains one of the ministry's primary digital channels, offering integrated municipal services that support businesses and facilitate licensing and other administrative processes.
