Album Spotlight | Mosalem - ‘Qesset Shams El 3ebad’

Mosalem is an Egyptian rapper and songwriter who has carved out his space in the underground trap-shaabi scene with a sound that’s instantly recognisable and hard to copy. He is not interested in dissing or flexing; instead, he crafts polished and smooth productions that are deeply expressive in their nature, combining old-school hip-hop with influences from indie-rock and pop and a personalised lyrical direction.

Following the release of his latest EP, ‘Qesset Shams El 3ebad’, we sat down with Mosalem to discuss the concept behind the record and what makes the EP his most honest work yet. He opens up about his writing process, the layered dimensions of love it explores, as well as what motivates him to keep going back to the studio, always evolving and stretching the boundaries of his sound.
