Ibn Itaka Samples Palestinian Sound Archive for New Dance Record
Titled ‘Playa de Tanger’, the track is part of the co-founder of Abu Recordings’ upcoming travelogue/mixtape.
Ibn Itaka, a Puerto Rican/Congolese DJ, producer and co-founder of global independent label Abu Recordings, returns with a hard-hitting dance record ‘Playa de Tanger’.
The record sees Itaka chopping samples from the Palestinian Sound Archive by Majazz Project, with accelerated ganwa rhythms, sound distortions and infectious synths, crafting a love letter to the lively spirit of Morocco’s Tanger. The amplitude of the track is addictive and irresistibly danceable.
‘Playa de Tanger’ comes as part of Ibn Itaka’s forthcoming travelogue/mixtape set to be released in December of this year, where the producer sounds that inspired him throughout three years of extensive travelling across the globe.
