Inside Groovin’ Hub: Cairo’s Unofficial Living Room for Artists

As club culture increasingly becomes defined by fleeting encounters with faces and names that rarely stick, a global shift within electronic music has been pushing for more intentional spaces built around connection, collaboration and community. In Egypt, Groovin’ Hub is emerging as one such space, a creative hub that began with a simple group chat among friends looking for a place to groove and simply have fun.

Founded by Egyptian DJ and producer Awadly, Groovin’ Hub was initially conceived as a private production studio. But as the idea took shape, built by hand with personal belongings, contributions from friends, and decor sourced from neighbours, it evolved into something more communal: an open environment where local artists and creatives in Cairo can gather, create and exchange ideas.

Beyond serving as a studio, Groovin’ Hub operates as a learning space for Cairo’s growing electronic music community. Through its partnership with Mazen El Messiry’s Studio Blanche, artists can book studio sessions or join production and mixing courses, including an eight-session program that takes students from the foundations of production to completing their own track.

The hub’s ambitions also extend beyond its walls. Awadly is currently developing Groovin’ Factory, a delivery-based service that allows event organisers to rent essential equipment, from sound systems and DJ gear to practical necessities like portable air conditioning units and toilets.

While rooted in music, Groovin’ Hub has become a gathering point for a wider creative network, welcoming graphic designers, visual artists, producers, and listeners alike. Its open-door approach has already sparked new collaborations. At its core, Groovin’ Hub is built around a simple idea: creating the infrastructure for Cairo’s creative community to meet, share resources, and build something together.

During one of our hang-outs at Groovin' Hub, we caught up with its founder Awadly to uncover the story of the space and how he intends to make it like an unofficial living room for Cairo's creatives.
