Syrian-German electronic duo Shkoon has announced that they will be hosting an emergency fundraising concert in Hamburg on 23rd February to support those affected by the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

All proceeds will go to Medico International, a charity based in Frankfurt offering emergency medical relief and food security to marginalised communities of the Global South and victims of humanitarian crises for over fifty years. The organisation is doing crucial work to support the Kurds, Alevis, Assyrians and other ethnic minorities, who face ongoing aid discrimination from the Turkish government and the Assad regime.

The concert will be held in Knust, a basement venue in Hamburg’s Old Town that has previously hosted Arab-inspired, techno titans such as Taxi Kebab and Acid Arab, with a finalised lineup of this concert to be revealed in the coming days. Ticket categories range from 20€ up to a “Super-solidarity-ticket” for 100€. A separate ticket category is available at €10 for those who cannot attend the concert but still want to donate.

The move comes as members of the music and art community step up to supplement the efforts of local aid organisations, with the most up-to-date death toll having surpassed 37,000, and many thousands injured or still caught under the rubble.
