The Royal Tearoom at Atlantis The Royal, however, is rewiring the Dubai narrative into a slower, more traditionally refined colour of opulence with their afternoon tea experience.
Laced with delicate elegance and centred around impeccably prepared arrays of pastry and high quality tea, The Royal Tearoom’s afternoon tea exceeds our wildest 5-year-old girl tea party dreams by many miles. Some of the delicacies offered, like the signature vanilla, the blueberry water droplet inspired by Atlantis’ hydrophilic tendencies, as well as the iconic date cake are so hypnotically beautiful they take visitors on journeys of their own.
Headed by one of the region’s leading pastry chefs, Christophe Devoille, The Royal Tearoom offers a menu of delicacies that are sourced and baked with artisanal expertise, including homemade chocolate bars, bonbons and a luxury selection of handcrafted Arabic sweets.
The boutique eatery’s afternoon tea is split into two categories: Emirati and Signature. The former features eloquent twists on familiar favourites of the region, date-covered luqaimat and spongy Sago rich in cardamom being only two. Priced at AED 440 for two people, the experience invites visitors to dive into rosy halawat al-jibn with decadence.
The Signature afternoon tea features a constantly morphing set of desserts dictated by the readiness of seasonal fruits in the region as well as a refined stand of scones, finger sandwiches, and pastries that feature esoteric ingredient combinations.
