Egypt to Transfer Green Energy to Greece Through 1370km Undersea Cable
Egypt will soon export 3,000 MW of electricity - enough to power 45,000 households - to Attica, Greece through a 1,363 km long underwater cable.

Egypt’s plan to become a key clean energy hub using solar and wind power plants moves further along as Greece joins the nation’s energy grid, after Libya, Sudan and Saudi Arabia.
A recent surge in electricity prices in Europe, caused by continent-wide sanctions on Russia - the EU’s largest supplier of oil and gas - in response to its invasion of Ukraine, has sent countries in search of alternative energy options ahead of winter.
Managers of Copelouzos Group, the company overseeing the €3.5 billion project, have recently met with Egyptian authorities to put the project into motion. Egypt will export 3,000 MW of electricity - enough to power 45,000 households - to Attica, Greece through a 1,363 km long underwater cable.
