Swimmer Abdelrahman Sameh Wins Silver Medal at World Aquatics Cup 2023
This follows Sameh’s historic gold win at the World Cup in Greece earlier this month.

Egyptian swimmer Abdelrahman Sameh has added another accolade to his growing list of achievements, securing the silver medal in the 50-metre butterfly race at the ongoing World Aquatics Cup in Budapest, Hungary.
Sameh's performance saw him finish the race in 23.13 seconds, falling just 0.02 seconds short of the first-place American swimmer who claimed the gold medal with a time of 23.11 seconds.
Sameh qualified for the finals after completing the eighth heat in 23.53 seconds, securing the fourth position overall and earning his spot in the highly-anticipated medal race.
This win follows Sameh's historic gold medal victory in the 50-metre butterfly event at the World Aquatics World Cup Championship held in Greece earlier this month. When asked about his win, Sameh - in a now viral clip - stated, “I don't think I can celebrate this honestly, [....] my brothers and sisters are being killed in Palestine, and I’m threatened with death just because it’s a cause I’m standing for."
