Dubai Roads Restored After Weather Disruption

Dubai’s main road network and key transport corridors have returned to normal operations following recent adverse weather, with no major road closures recorded during the event.
The Roads and Transport Authority confirmed that any disruptions were limited to minor cases and were resolved immediately, allowing traffic flow to continue across the emirate.
Preparations were carried out in advance of the weather system in coordination with multiple entities, including Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Civil Defence and Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, alongside private sector partners.
Response measures included upgrades at more than 14 key locations, such as increasing drainage capacity, deploying high-capacity pumps connected to deep tunnel systems, expanding discharge points into Dubai Creek and establishing retention ponds to manage excess rainwater.
Operations were coordinated through a joint command room linked to the unified control centre, which worked alongside the National Centre of Meteorology to monitor weather conditions and manage readiness levels.
More than 380 pumps, over 500 water tankers and 100 emergency vehicles were deployed, supported by around 1,300 personnel. Authorities also introduced new high-capacity pumping vehicles and smart sensor systems in tunnels and underpasses to monitor water levels and enable real-time response.
