In the space of just 12 months, the app has revolutionised shopping in Egypt.
Having launched in early 2018, nifty app, valU, quickly changed the way Egyptians shop by offering easy, breezy payment instalment plans on almost anything. This month, the app’s interface even got a swanky new makeover, which meant they had two reasons to celebrate this week at Sofitel El Gezirah, where they also marked their first anniversary with a lavish party.
Hosted by rib-tickling twosome, Khalid Mansour and Shady Alfons, the event was attended by a who’s who of the startup, fintech and business worlds, with some of the most influential entrepreneurs and CEOs also taking to the stage to engage in panel discussions, which were moderated by another big name, Wael El Fakharany.
The likes of Mohamed Okasha (Managing Director, Fawry), Islam Shawky (co-founder and CEO, Paymob), Mostafa Medhat (Managing Partner, Tradeline), Ahmed Zahran (co-founder and CEO, KarmSolar) and Ahmed Hamouda (Country Manager, Uber) were just a few of the high-level CEOs and VIPs in attendance at an event that also gave valU a chance to pay homage its partners.
It all marks a wildly successful year for the company, which has emerged as one of the most remarkable success stories in an Egyptian startup scene that certainly isn’t short on them.
