Egyptian football official Mahmoud Ashour has been selected by FIFA to referee matches at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris this summer, as one of 20 match officials announced by the world football governing body on April 3rd.

Having been a professional referee since 2011, Ashour was previously chosen to officiate at the Tokyo Summer Games in 2020. His experience also extends to the African Cup of Nations, for which he was part of the VAR team for the 2024 Cup Final between Ivory Coast and Nigeria.
