Saudi Film 'The Last Dismissal' Selected for Hollywood ShortsFest

‘The Last Dismissal’, a Saudi short film by Jawaher Alamri, has been selected to compete in the Hollywood ShortsFest, making it the only Arabic film in the festival.

Alamri, who is best known for ‘Becoming’ (2021) and ‘Sadeya Left Sultan’ (2019), is passionate about telling stories about relationships, freedom, and loss. In ‘The Last Dismissal’, a grieving teenager must come to terms with the death of a close friend.

Held at the historic Marilyn Monroe Theater in Los Angeles, this film festival is coming into its fourth year. In 2023, Hollywood ShortsFest was selected as one of the Top 100 Best Reviewed Film Festivals in Freeway for 2023. This event features awards for categories such as Best Short, Best First Time Filmmaker Short, Best Foreign Language Short, Best Documentary Short, Best Student Short, and more. A USD 1000 cash prize is offered to winners of the Grand Jury Award and the Audience Award. This festival is dedicated to helping emerging filmmakers promote their work to global audiences.
