DIFC Unveils 50 Metre Mural Celebrating the UAE’s Space Journey
The mural, by Emirati artist Ahmed BaFadhl, celebrates the UAE’s creative and cosmic ambitions.
A colossal piece of artwork has taken over the facade of the Dubai International Financial Centre, stretching 50 metres across the landmark. The piece celebrates the UAE’s story through space, capturing its journey and just how far it’s aiming to go.
The installation is the work of Emirati architect and visual artist Ahmed BaFadhl, known for capturing emotion and national identity through a home grow perspective.
The artwork features some of the countries most iconic symbols of scientific progress: the Hope Probe, Etihad-SAT, Rashid Rover 2, and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre’s Rashid Rover. Together, they frame the UAE’s early days to its growing footprint in space.
Unveiled as a highlight of Brand Dubai’s #ZayedAndRashid campaign, the piece launches the start of ‘National Month,’ running from November 3rd to the 54th Eid Al Etihad on December 2nd. The campaign - an ongoing collaboration between Brand Dubai and DIFC - honours the legacy of the Founding Fathers, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
