‘Film My Design’ Hosts Summer Screenings in Four Egyptian Cities
The screening programme delves into the intersection of film, architecture, and urban spaces across four Egyptian cities.
The Summer of (Sun)Screenings Programme by Film My Design, MENA’s first design-film festival, will run from July 18th to the 29th, delving deep into the intersection of cinema with urban spaces and architecture.
Under the theme of ‘Ode to Cinema’, the second edition of The Summer of (Sun)Screenings Programme will take place across four Egyptian cities - Cairo, Alexandria, Tanta and Ismailia - bringing together a rich community of filmmakers, designers, architects and artists. The programme will offer a curated selection of thought-provoking film screenings, engaging discussions and masterclasses, as well as guided tours through each city’s cultural and cinematic landmarks.
The programme views cinema as a tool and a reference, with an interdisciplinary approach that considers the ways in which it shapes and is shaped by the design trends of particular places and eras. Through a diverse selection of films from Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon and Argentina, viewers get to engage with the stories and their unique design backgrounds. The programme’s rich roster of acclaimed filmmakers sharing insights on cinema, society and beyond includes Egyptian filmmaker Yousry Nasrallah, who will give a masterclass on the intricate relationship between cinema and the city. Egyptian director and producer Marianne Khoury will also lead an introductory filmmaking masterclass.
The event is open to the public. For registration, head to filmmydesign.com.
