'Hatshepsut' Feature Produced by Zahi Hawass to Come Out in December

Egyptologist and filmmaker Curtis Ryan Woodside has announced the upcoming release of his latest historical documentary, ‘Hatshepsut’, set to premiere on December 12th on YouTube and Amazon Prime US & UK, with additional streaming platforms to follow. Co-produced with Egyptologists Dr. Zahi Hawass and Sofia Aziz, the three-hour feature delves into the life and reign of Queen Hatshepsut, one of ancient Egypt’s most powerful female rulers. The film not only explores her political legacy and the gender dynamics that shaped her time but also presents newly examined archaeological evidence suggesting she may have fought in battle. The film features a distinguished lineup of guest speakers, including Dr. Zahi Hawass, Sofia Aziz, Dr. Salima Ikram, Dr. Colleen Darnell, Elizabeth Norena, Kayleigh During, and Ahmed Lamey Dr wish. Through expert interviews, and detailed reconstructions, ‘Hatshepsut’ aims to present a comprehensive portrait of the 18th Dynasty queen—her rise to power, her architectural achievements, and her place in the story of ancient Egypt. Curtis Ryan Woodside - whose archaeological documentaries are often released for free on YouTube - previously worked with Dr. Zahi Hawass on the four-hour feature on the life of Ramses the Great. He also worked extensively with Sofia Aziz on an in-depth documentary on Cleopatra, after the both of them were hired to work on the infamous Netflix documentary on the Macedonian queen of Egypt, only to be dismissed after their insistence on historical accuracy went at odds with the producers. Curtis Ryan Woodside and Sofia Aziz's own feature focused on contributions by Egyptian archeologists, including Dr Zahi Hawass.
