Riyadh Art’s Tuwaiq Sculpture Symposium Opens for Applications
The work of the selected applicants will become a permanent part of Riyadh’s urban fabric.
The Tuwaiq Sculpture Symposium in Riyadh is now open for applications until September 1st. This year, applications will be reviewed by the symposium's curatorial team, led by the renowned award-winning multi-disciplinary artist Sebastian Betancur-Montoya.
In its sixth edition, this annual symposium brings together a vibrant mix of local and international artists to create stunning public artworks in a live setting, all using locally sourced materials.
From January 15th to February 18th, 2025, the symposium will buzz with an interactive program of workshops, talks and school visits, all designed to foster cultural exchange and creativity. The event will culminate in an on-site exhibition showcasing the winning creations, which will then become permanent fixtures in Riyadh’s urban landscape.
As a highlight of Riyadh Art, the kingdom’s pioneering national public creative initiative launched in 2019, the Tuwaiq Sculpture Symposium aims to transform the city’s public spaces. This grand project is set to infuse squares, parks, residential areas, and public transport stations in the Saudi capital with public art installations.
