Work to monitor and address at-risk structures will continue in districts across the Jeddah governorate.
Evacuation notices have been served to 1,011 dilapidated buildings in Al Ruwais, Jeddah, ahead of demolition. The Jeddah Mayoralty will begin disconnecting and removing utilities from the buildings as part of the first phase.
The Jeddah Mayoralty said the General Directorate of Emergency and Crisis Management completed the notification process for the first phase, and the Committee for Dilapidated Buildings issued demolition orders after all regulatory procedures were finalised. Building owners were given the legally mandated grace period prior to implementation. Utility disconnection and removal will be carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities, preparing to complete the demolition work in line with the approved plan.
The mayoralty stated that these measures are part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, protect lives and property, and address the condition of buildings that pose a risk to residents and the urban environment. Work to monitor and address at-risk structures will continue in districts across the Jeddah governorate, aligned with objectives to improve the urban landscape, enhance quality of life, and support a safe and sustainable urban environment. The steps fall within a wider urban plan to improve Jeddah’s physical landscape and overall urban environment.
