6,850 Mangrove Trees Planted in Jebel Ali Sanctuary
Mangrove forests, which absorb carbon four times more than tropical forests, play a vital role in combating climate change.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) led a campaign to plant 6,850 mangrove trees and remove 256 kg of plastic waste at the Jebel Ali Marine Sanctuary.
More than 500 participants, including DEWA employees, their families, and students from DEWA Academy, took part in the initiative, reinforcing efforts to support biodiversity and preserve one of Dubai’s key natural reserves.
Mangrove forests, which absorb carbon at a rate four times higher than tropical forests, play a vital role in combating climate change and protecting the environment. In 2023, DEWA’s ongoing efforts resulted in the planting of over 5,500 mangrove trees and the removal of 3,100 KG of waste from the sanctuary, further contributing to environmental sustainability.
