Advance Cargo Information for Air Shipments to Start in Egypt in 2026

The Ministry of Finance has announced that the Advance Cargo Information (ACI) system will be officially implemented for all air cargo shipments starting January 1st, 2026, following the rollout of the system at seaports. The system, which allows importers to electronically submit detailed shipment data before goods arrive, is designed to streamline customs procedures, reduce clearance times, and lower administrative costs. It forms part of Egypt’s broader trade facilitation and digital transformation strategy under the Nafeza single-window platform. The ACI system’s expansion to air freight follows a successful pilot phase launched in 2022, which received positive feedback from private-sector stakeholders. The Customs Authority noted that the system has already processed over 2.5 million customs release certificates at seaports since its introduction, improving transparency, reducing shipment refusals, and easing trade operations.
