The first gold medal for Egypt has been secured! Egyptian athlete Ahmed El Gendy has won first place in the Modern Pentathlon at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The 24 year-old won a silver medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, and this year has set a new Olympic world record with his score of 1,555 points.
The previous Olympic record was also set by him, with his score of 1,516 points in the semi-finals immediately prior.
