Cairo Metro Hours Extended for Ramadan 2026
The adjustment covers Lines 1, 2 and 3, with services running for longer each day and last-train departures scheduled later at night during the holy month.
Operating hours on the Cairo Metro will be extended from February 19th, 2026, to accommodate changes in passenger traffic during Ramadan, the Ministry of Transport announced. The adjustment covers Lines 1, 2 and 3, with services running for longer each day and last-train departures scheduled later at night during the holy month.
Final services will be coordinated to meet at major interchange stations to maintain transfer options across the network. Last-train connections will be available at Anwar Sadat Station for Lines 1 and 2, at Nasser Station for Lines 1 and 3, at Attaba Station for Lines 2 and 3, and at Cairo University Station for Lines 2 and 3.
To ease pre-Iftar demand, train intervals will be reduced to four and a half minutes during the afternoon peak immediately preceding Iftar, a measure intended to alleviate overcrowding and facilitate high commuter volumes at that time.
Service patterns remain consistent with existing routes. Line 1 operates between Helwan and New Marg. Line 2 connects Shubra El Kheima and El Mounib. On Line 3, trains run on two branches linking Adly Mansour with Cairo University and with the Rod El Farag Corridor. The extended Ramadan schedule applies across these routes, with the final trains timed to enable last interchange opportunities at the main transfer stations before services end for the night.
