Centres & Services to Treat Addiction Expand Across Egypt
The Ministry of Health and Population is working to make addiction treatment more accessible across Egypt’s governorates.
The Ministry of Health and Population is expanding addiction treatment facilities across Egypt, in order to accommodate more patients from various governorates.
The expansion will increase the capacity and quality of addiction treatment in Assiut Mental Health Hospital, Abbaseya Psychiatric Hospital, and Maamoura Psychiatric Hospital.
The Ministry will also launch more treatment facilities and services in eight official and external clinics, with night shifts attending to emergencies. The rehabilitation program ‘Ta’afy’ will help people struggling with addiction to reintegrate into society post-treatment and empower them with the tools to maintain sobriety in the future, such as behavioural therapy, social skills and personal skills that equip them for the job market.
