Delivery Riders Banned From Dubai's Fast Lanes Starting November 1st
The rule prohibits delivery riders from using the two leftmost lanes on roads with five lanes or more, and the leftmost lane on roads with three or four lanes.

Delivery motorcycles will be banned from using fast lanes on Dubai’s main roads starting November 1st, under a new directive issued by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in collaboration with Dubai Police.
The rule prohibits delivery riders from using the two leftmost lanes on roads with five lanes or more, and the leftmost lane on roads with three or four lanes. On smaller roads with two lanes or fewer, delivery bikes may continue to use all lanes.
The move comes following a surge in traffic incidents involving delivery motorcycles, with 854 accidents recorded in 2024 and 962 during the first nine months of 2025. Authorities said the majority were linked to unsafe riding practices in high-speed lanes, prompting the new restriction.
To ensure compliance, the RTA plans to install electronic signs marking restricted lanes and will require delivery companies to monitor driver adherence. Operators maintaining high safety standards will also be recognised under the Delivery Sector Excellence Award initiative, encouraging safer operations across the sector.
