Dubai Police Train Taxi Drivers Under Road Safety Campaign

Dubai Police delivered a targeted traffic awareness lecture to more than 80 taxi drivers in Dubai as part of the Year Without Accidents campaign. The session was led by the Traffic Awareness Department at Dubai Taxi headquarters and focused on promoting safer driving practices among drivers who spend extended hours on the road.
Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, said taxi drivers play a key role in the transport network and that strict adherence to traffic laws is essential to reducing accidents and protecting road users.
The lecture covered a range of safety topics, including compliance with speed limits, maintaining safe distances between vehicles, and avoiding distractions such as mobile phone use while driving. Additional guidance addressed pedestrian safety at crossings, lane discipline, and proper navigation through intersections and traffic signals, alongside the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, particularly tyres and brakes.
Officials also warned against unsafe driving behaviours such as sudden braking and improper lane changes, with an emphasis on responsible driving during peak hours and in high-traffic areas. Participants were introduced to Dubai Police’s Traffic Safety Platform and shown how to access educational resources through a QR code to support safer driving habits.
