Dubai to Add AI Safety & Women-Only Beach Under Coastal Roadmap

Dubai Municipality will roll out a set of new beach features across the emirate, including AI-enabled safety systems. At Jumeirah Beach 1, redevelopment works are nearing completion, with the beach set to reopen this month after being expanded by around 50%. The site has been fitted with Wi-Fi coverage, electronic information displays, smart lockers, EV charging points and AI-powered rescue and monitoring services. Climate-readiness measures included the addition of approximately 250,000 cubic metres of sand to reinforce the shoreline.
At Umm Suqeim, a AED 500 million project covers 3.1 kilometres of coastline and roughly 445,000 square metres. The scheme will increase beach area by about 30% and is designed to accommodate up to 6 million visitors annually. Plans include smart lighting across 130,000 square metres to support night use, a 200% increase in parking capacity to around 2,400 spaces, and ten mobility hubs with taxi points, cycling paths and facilities for electric vehicles and scooters.
Al Mamzar Beach Corniche is being developed under a AED 355 million programme that adds pedestrian and cycling tracks, children’s play areas and upgraded public services. Projects include a 300-metre, 24/7 night-swimming beach in Deira, a 5-kilometre pedestrian link between two beaches, 11 kilometres of cycling and running tracks, and a 200-metre floating pedestrian bridge connecting both sides of the corniche. A dedicated women-only public beach at Al Mamzar will span about 125,000 square metres and feature controlled access, privacy fencing, night swimming and facilities such as a sports club, commercial outlets and children’s play areas.
In Hatta, plans include an “all-season” artificial mountain beach centred on a Crystal Lagoon. The development will cover about 53,000 square metres of waterfront, including a 10,000-square-metre beach, with amenities such as walking and cycling paths, rest areas, restaurants, food trucks, and an outdoor cinema.
