Egypt Among Fastest Risers on World University Ranking 2022
Egyptian institutions scored almost 11 points higher for citations and income in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022, compared to how they performed in 2018.

According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022, universities in Saudi Arabia and Egypt currently have the fastest-rising educational institutions globally, beating out mainland China over the past four years.
Egyptian institutions scored almost 11 points higher for citations and income in the 2022 edition compared to the 2018 edition, while Saudi Arabian educational institutions ranked 12 points higher. The analysis only took into consideration institutions that have been ranked across all years (2018-2022), and countries that have at least three institutions that meet this requirement.
Egypt’s gains come after decades of policy-driven growth in scientific research, as well as an increase in collaborations with international research partners, allowing them to receive more citations and publish more works in high-impact journals.
