Egypt has opened the AFRI Egypt Medical Center in Jinja, Uganda, as part of a national strategy to fortify its economic relations with African countries.
The new centre was implemented by ACDIMA, the Holding Company for Pharmaceuticals, and the Egyptian Company for Investment and Development, as well as a few private companies. It was established to help develop Uganda’s health system, with plans for Egypt to expand its medical services in the east African country.
Egypt will implement the ‘100 Million Healthy Lives’ presidential initiative dedicated to protecting the health of Ugandans and reorienting the healthcare system toward providing inclusive and higher quality healthcare. To accomplish this, they’ve equipped the centre with ambulances and portable clinics, sent Egyptian medical teams to train local doctors, and will offer 20 scholarships for Ugandan physicians.
