Egypt’s 5G Capacity Is Getting an Upgrade With USD 3.5 Billion Deal
A 410 MHz spectrum allocation under Egypt’s 2026–2030 strategy is set to strengthen 5G services and telecom infrastructure.
A major radio spectrum allocation agreement was signed in Cairo, assigning 410 MHz of new spectrum to Egypt’s four mobile network operators in a deal valued at approximately USD 3.5 billion.
The signing took place at Mohamed Ali Palace in Shubra as part of the National Spectrum Strategy 2026–2030 overseen by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
According to the ministry, the newly allocated spectrum is equivalent in volume to all frequencies assigned to mobile services since their introduction in the country. T
he agreement is intended to support the long-term sustainability and expansion of telecommunications infrastructure, improve service quality, strengthen fifth-generation mobile services and enhance overall market competitiveness and digital preparedness.
Communications and Information Technology Minister Amr Talaat stated that the allocation effectively doubles the spectrum available to operators in a single step.
The move builds on the launch of 5G services in June 2025 and is designed to ensure network readiness for emerging digital applications and increasing data demand.
