Egypt’s Olympic Committee Disqualifies Wrestler ‘Kesho’
The Egyptian Olympic Committee disqualified the Egyptian wrestler after his arrest by Paris police for sexual assault.
The Egyptian Olympic Committee disqualified Egyptian wrestler Mohamed Ibrahim El-Sayed, also known as ‘Kesho’, according to Fil Gaol. This follows an allegation of sexual assault made against him while he was in Paris with the Egyptian Olympic Team.
According to Shorouk News, a source in the Olympic Committee and the Head of the Egyptian Delegation disclosed that a player on the wrestling team had been referred for investigation by the Ethics Committee after being accused of harassment. After completing his matches, they claim he left the camp without notification, and is now likely to be disbarred.
The source also revealed that the victim filed a complaint with Paris police, detailing that the incident occurred at around 4.30 am, after which El-Sayed was arrested. The Le Parisien newspaper has stated that the Egyptian wrestler ‘grabbed a woman’s buttocks in the street as he was leaving a cafe’.
El-Sayed won the bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling, in the 67kg weight class, at the 2020 Olympics Games in Tokyo. He exited the 2024 Paris Olympic Games after losing to Azerbaijan’s Hasrat Jafarov in the round of sixteen, with a score of 9-0.
