Egypt to Take Deep Dive Into Sustainability at UN Ocean Conference
A number of universities, delegates, and NGOs are set to take part in the conference in hopes of adopting innovative solutions that will keep our oceans clean.
In a bid to purify the oceans from waste and combat water acidification, illegal fishing, and loss of habitats, among other goals, representatives from Egypt will participate in the UN Ocean Conference taking place from June 27th to July 1st in Lisbon, Portugal.
A number of universities, delegates, and NGOs are set to take part in the conference in hopes of adopting innovative solutions that will keep our oceans clean. The conference will instigate conversations that address 10 main targets as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which aims to secure ecosystems and raise scientific awareness.
Also on the agenda is the determination of the high ambitions of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) which will build the foundation of the futuristic vision for a healthier and more sustainable ocean.
Egypt’s participation comes in line with its hosting of the 27th session of the Conference of Parties (COP27), which will take place in November in the coastal city of Sharm El Sheikh, and its leadership objectives in addressing climate change among other global phenomena.
