Jubail Industrial City Uses World’s Biggest Smart Irrigation System

Jubail Industrial City now operates the world’s largest integrated smart irrigation system, managed through a central control centre overseeing more than 12,200 automated units. According to the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY), these devices process around 1.2 million daily signals to monitor and adjust conditions across 11,600 km of pipeline.

The system has reduced operation and maintenance costs by over 35% and supports large-scale water recycling, with around 2.8 million cubic metres of treated water reused for irrigation each month. Designed to optimise resources in one of the region’s driest areas, the initiative highlights Jubail’s growing focus on sustainable urban management.
